The capstone project of my composition series is a group project that asks students to build a website for a community of their choice and write a process essay detailing the rhetorical techniques they employ to appeal to their audience(s). During our final exam period, students present their projects to the class, defend their project against the critiques of their peers, and ask classmates incisive questions about their websites The project unites numerous threads from the semester: advanced rhetorical concepts, discussions about the importance of community, lessons on being critical producers and consumers of information, etc. Just as importantly, the project gives students an invaluable tool for professional success.
